SDARL Class II Hosts Reunion

With a desire to reconnect with each other and SDARL, Class II members met in Mitchell, SD, on August 18 for a reunion and social. Fifteen of 28 class members, many with spouses joining, enjoyed rekindling the camaraderie and friendship of their SDARL class in their first official gathering since completing the program in 2004.

The idea for the reunion was spurred by the SDARL Ag Leaders Give campaign and efforts to reach out to SDARL graduates and reconnect with an organization that greatly impacted their lives. Reunion planning was led by Craig Dybedahl, of the Ag Leaders Give Committee, Class II president Walt Bones, and Nathan Sparks. The event featured remarks from Denny Everson, founding director of SDARL, giving a historical perspective, and current Class XII members Nick Passone and Kiera Leddy, sharing their experiences with the program.

After the reunion, Craig reflected, “Each classmate gave a family/career update, and many made testimonies about their participation on boards, etc. after SDARL. I’d encourage other classes to have reunions. Those that attended really enjoyed the fellowship and several commented that we need to do these more often.”

SDARL staff are ready to assist other classes wishing to host a reunion. Gatherings are especially encouraged during the upcoming SDARL 25th anniversary celebrations to be held in conjunction with the Class XII fundraising auction and commencement, March 29-30, 2025. Please get in touch with Janelle Booth, CEO, or Jennifer Henrie, Program Director, for more information on helping your class plan a reunion!
